Tips for Alorica Job Seekers

PRC Careers-Tips

Has an open position at Alorica caught your eye?  Here are a few resume and interview strategies to help you get noticed—and get your foot in the door.

Your Resume—the Ultimate Selling Tool

A resume’s purpose is to “sell” you quickly to the reader by outlining your experience and how you can contribute to the employer’s workplace.  Below are a few tips for making yours stand out in the pile.

Don’t Forget the Basics

Your resume should include:

  • Objective:  State the job or internship you're looking for.
  • Experience:  Describe your job history in detail, including company names, the dates you worked there, and the duties of your position.
  • Education:  List high school and college degrees earned as well as any additional college-level courses you’ve taken.
  • Other Skills/Information: Include special computer, language and/or other skills that may be relevant to your ability to perform the job.

Stay Focused

  • Focus on the title of the job you seek and address its specific requirements.
  • Organize your resume around the duties and skills of that position.

Use Strong Action Words

  • Use key terms and phrases that will “pop out” at employers and get their attention.
  • Emphasize words that signify leadership, such as: team work/player, multi-tasking, executed, organized, performed, maintained, supervised, managed, directed, developed, and implemented.

Make Copies of Your Resume

  • Always have extra copies of your resume on hand at your interview; you may be asked to meet with additional people.
  • Your resume can be used as a “leave-behind” after meeting with key personnel.

The Interview – Be Prepared

Congratulations!  You've been contacted by one of Alorica’s team members—and they want to meet with you personally to discuss the job you’ve applied for.  A job interview can certainly be nerve-wracking, but being prepared will give you an edge in landing the position. Here are some tips that will help your interview go more smoothly.

Prepare

  • Before interviewing, learn all you can about the company and, if possible, the position you’re applying for.
  • Look at the company’s website.
  • Read company brochures, flyers and any other marketing materials you can get your hands on.
  • Talk to someone at the company who can give you an “insider’s view” of the organization.
  • Familiarize yourself with the specific duties of the position you’re seeking.

Practice

  • Don’t be afraid to rehearse for the “big event.”  After all, practice makes perfect.
  • Search the Internet for common interview questions.
  • Practice answering those questions with a friend or family member.
  • Rehearse by yourself in front of a mirror.

Look Your Best

  • When it comes to interviewing, the rule of thumb is “dress for success.”
  • Always dress appropriately.
  • Corporate attire is always a must.
  • Present a neat appearance, i.e. clean-shaven, neatly groomed hair.
  • Don’t chew gum during the interview.
  • Be confident, but not arrogant.
  • Make basic eye contact, but do not stare.
  • Give a firm handshake.
  • Avoid long pauses in conversation.
  • Avoid using “filler words” such as “umm…”
  • Use positive body language and proper posture.
  • Show your interest and enthusiasm.
  • Smile frequently.
  • And most importantly – be yourself.

Ask Questions

  • Almost all interviews end with “Do you have any questions?” Be prepared to respond by following these tips.
  • Have questions ready (write them down if you have to).
  • It's ok to refer to notes; it shows you made an effort to prepare.
  • Pay attention during the interview—don’t ask a question that’s already been covered.
  • Be courteous and attentive while the interviewer responds to your questions, and ask follow-up questions, if necessary.
