Alorica’s President of Asia, Bong Borja, along with Avaya Country Head, Ferdinand Macatangay, were recently interviewed by local Philippines news channel ONE News during its “Rush Hour” program. The interview focused on the BPO growth in the region, opportunities, and insights into what the region should expect in the future.
From a growth perspective, Borja noted that in the Philippines, the call center industry is continuing to grow between 7-9% annually. Just this year alone, Alorica will be opening two new sites in the region – Cubao Center, located in Quezon City beside the existing Alorica Cubao site, and Alorica by the Bay, located within the national capital region of the Philippines, and a stone’s throw away from Manila’s largest mall— The Mall of Asia. Stay tuned in the coming months for more details about our current expansion in the region.
With a population proficient in English, an educated workforce, a robust and reliable technology infrastructure and lower operational costs, the Philippines has consistently proven to be an exceptional market for the BPO industry. Today, there are 800,000 jobs in the call center space, with an expected 70,000-80,000 new jobs this year. And that’s not all, this year the industry is slated to bring $1 billion dollars in revenue for the country. To learn more about our offerings in Asia, including the Philippines, visit us here.
