Supporting a family member undergoing major surgery that requires a lengthy recovery can be emotionally and financially challenging for anyone. That’s why Alorica recently awarded a seed grant to Fisher House in Houston, Texas. Fisher House is a non-profit agency that builds and maintains “comfort homes,” and provides daily cooked meals, for veterans’ and military families to live in while their loved ones undergo medical procedures at nearby Veterans Administration hospitals.
Alorica’s grant, along with private funding from other sources, will help build a 20-suite, 16,000 square foot comfort home with spacious common areas: dining room, living room, kitchen, patio and laundry. Participating in the groundbreaking ceremony in Houston on behalf of Alorica was Colleen Beers, Senior Vice President of Operations. When completed, this will be the third Fisher House in Houston and the 71st in the U.S.
Last year, Alorica made a similar donation to Fisher House in San Antonio, where many of our Alorica colleagues volunteer their time and talents every month, cooking and serving meals to residents.
