Alorica, Inc., a global leader in customer experience, is providing Returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) with employment opportunities that come with competitive salaries, medical benefits, skills-enhancement training particularly in English communications, online learning, and the opportunity to continue furthering their studies. This is part of Alorica’s efforts to hire 4,000 new employees for its Philippine sites in the next few months to meet the high demand of the business.

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, over 58,000 OFWs have returned to the Philippines after losing their jobs temporarily or permanently (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, July 21, 2020). Alorica is offering both agent and non-agent career paths for OFWs and thousands of Filipinos across the country looking for employment. For agent positions, new hires may progress as Subject Matter Experts or Team Leaders after six to 24 months of tenure, and potentially move up to Operations Manager after 48 to 72 months of tenure. Meanwhile, non-agent career paths in the company include roles in recruitment, administration, human resources, training, and information technology.

“OFWs are experienced individuals who have been immersed in diverse environments with different employers. Apart from having the basic command of English, OFWs demonstrate adaptability, integrity, and commitment, which are important factors for anyone looking to build a career. OFWs are ideal members of our workforce as they are oriented in not only providing customer service, but also effective solutions,” explains Bong Borja, Alorica’s President of Asia-Pacific Operations.

Estrella Bagni is a recent new hire at Alorica Davao, now working as a Customer Service Representative. The former househelp of a British family based in Qatar now finds herself resolving customer issues and concerns.

“At first, I was overwhelmed, because working abroad is totally different from working at Alorica. My work abroad is mainly organizing and cleaning my employer’s house, while at Alorica, I deal with customers’ concerns and issues, which helped expand my skill set,” Bagni shares, citing the different training programs available to her to assist her in carrying out her new set of responsibilities. She emphasizes that working with Alorica has not limited her to doing the same things every day, but it has expanded her opportunities to learn and develop other competencies.

Analyn Quilapio is another former OFW who has found her place at Alorica as a Customer Service Associate in one of the company’s Makati sites.

“Alorica made sure that we became experts before they onboarded us. They offer in-house training sessions that are informative and fun. They make sure that we are enjoying the work, while learning everything we need to know about our product or account,” she explains.

“Alorica is an ideal workplace for a returning OFW, because you will get to meet new people, make new friends, and enjoy what you do while earning a much higher rate than your salary abroad. Being employed in Alorica during the pandemic has really helped my family to survive. Without it, for sure, my family would still struggle to make a living,” Quilapio adds.
